Bad Hair Day

John Edmonds guitar, Tony Myers guitar, Roger Woods drums and John Kaethner bass.

Back at Marigolds after a fantastic 2009 gig Bad Hair Day come in two guises. As their website says they play powerful guitar based classic blues/rock albeit in their own indomitable style. But that’s for the pubs where the audience is louder than the band.

But for Blues Clubs where the audience listens to appreciate what is being played for them, just as happens at Marigolds, they play guitar based classic blues again albeit in their own indomitable style.

Fronted by two experienced axe men in John and Tony you will have to go a long way to find many bands with two such fine and talented guitarists in the one band. None of their arrangements are set in stone and it is generally a case of seeing what happens on the night and it does generally happen.

Don’t miss what promises to be a great gig in the run up to Christmas

    The Georgia Mancio Quartet
    www.georgiamancio.com

Georgia Mancio vocals, Tim Lapthorn piano, Julie Walkington bass and Dave Ohm drums.

Georgia Mancio’s music is an intriguing reflection of her Anglo-Latino background: predominantly a standards singer, she also specialises in South American and European music and is a lyricist. As a child she played classical flute, went on to train as an actor and film-maker before returning to her musical roots to study jazz and voice. Since turning professional in 2000, she has worked in various musical outfits with players including Bobby Wellins, Andrew Cleyndert, Alex Garnett, and Tim Lapthorn as well as leading her own band - Gareth Lockrane, John Pearce, Julie Walkington/Dave Green, Dave Ohm, Anselmo Netto and many others too numerous to mention here. She has performed throughout the country and across Europe to critical acclaim and won first prize at the First Brussels International Young Jazz Singers Competition in 2005.

Following the success of her debut album, Peaceful Place, Georgia released her critically acclaimed second album, Trapeze in 2008.

A natural, instinctive musician with a pure, honeyed tone, her deceptively simple delivery is always shot through with sincerity and gravitas. Her supremely elegant voice, rich and bittersweet has impressed peers, press and audiences alike making Georgia Mancio a rising talent on the British and European jazz scenes.
