The course consists of 18 holes designed by the 5 times Open Champion James Braid. It has a par of 70 with a length of about 6,350 yards. There is no doubt it is one of the best Essex courses, situated just North of the town and off the A12. Its fast running fairways lined with mature trees and firs provide a wonderful test of golf. The four par threes and two par fives mean scoring below 70 is more difficult than it might seem at first and possibly the greatest threat to the unwary golfer comes in the form of tightly bunkered approaches to small subtly contoured greens.

18th Green and Professional's Shop

The Clubhouse has a comfortable main lounge with bar, a back stud bar with TV, The Parmenter Room for dining and social functions, full catering facilities and a superb terrace where one can watch golfers coming home to the 18th green.

Facilities include Gents and Ladies changing rooms, Junior room, bag room with through-the-wall Practice-Ball-Dispenser, a helpful and well stocked Pro Shop, 2 indoor nets and a substantial practice area and driving range including a well kept putting area adjacent to the Clubhouse.
