Event details: Tasty, barbed musical morsels snatched from the fingers, mouths and hearts of PJ Harvey, Sleater-Kinney and Huggy Bear, heavily seasoned with violet violet's own arty brand of vibrant wit and wisdom. This is gossip rock. It's edgy, full-on bitching, harmoniously delivered by a feisty trio of sardonic sirens. Tumbling tunes stuffed full of perfect and primal tribal rhythms with buzzsaw bass, gyrating guitars adn a dual-pronged lead vocal attack that's guaranteed to get you singing and bopping along to their infectious DIY dance floor ditties. 

Tune in, take note and listen to their woah-a-oh! You'll be unable to resist the violet violet range of sound: from infectious disco beats to hard screaming riot grrrl noisiness, each skit telling tales of bad dress sense, nasty nights out and crushing one-liners.

Event details: Delays are an English indie band formed in Southampton, consisting of brothers Greg and Aaron Gilbert, Colin Fox and Rowly. Likened to the Cocteau Twins and noted for the lead vocalist's falsetto, they have recorded two albums to date, both receiving warm critical response, and modest chart success.

The Go! Team

Event details: The Go! Team are an English, Brighton-based six piece band (with two drummers) whose songs are a mixture of action theme songs, cheerleader chants, guitars and early hip hop, with a hint of '70s funk. Their songs are a mix of live instrumentation and samples from various sources.

Event details: Joseph Mount writes and records music using the name Metronomy. Oscar Cash, Gabriel Stebbing and Joseph Mount perfom that music live and still call themselves Metronomy. Joseph Mount lived in Devon for a time, moved to Brighton and has finally settled for a while in London. On the way he has recorded one album and remixed many bands and artists. Soon a second album will arrive. Until that album arrives (at which time i'm sure a proper biography will be written) please enjoy what's available here and fill in any gaps with your own imaginings. The Man on the Moon open mic is really a very special event of spontaneous live music. It takes place on the occurs the last Tuesday of every month. Steph Brown, the open mic organiser, says It belongs to all those who attend it. It attracts a large, diverse, talented group of musicians and listeners.

Steph explains: If you're a musician or a music lover do come along. Everybody is very friendly and welcoming. The evening is always colourful and exciting. She says: "I do not book slots in advance as I feel this would defeat the point of an open mic night. It is its spontaneity  and randomness that make it special. Please just turn up at 7.45-8.30 if you wish to play as slots cannot be guaranteed after that time"
