Clocks

Clocks
Barfly - closed 4 June 2008
Clocks are a band who specialise in short and bittersweet, powerful and punchy pop-rock nuggets concerning new love and old valve radios, delivered using the tried and tested guitar, bass and drums method but rendered with sufficient vigour to make it all sound fresh, original, brand new.

The Subways

An alt-rock band from Welwyn Garden City. The Subways first came to the attention of the wider world when they were picked by Michael Eavis to play at Glastonbury.

Spiritualized

Spiritualized

After much anticipation, and a longer than expected wait, Spiritualized are set to release their new 18-track sixth studio album, 'Songs In A&E', on Spaceman Records on May 19th.

The album will be preceded by the single, 'Soul On Fire', which will be available digitally as well as on CD format.

Since the release of the last studio album, 'Amazing Grace', there followed a lengthy period of touring but this was unfortunately curtailed by a serious illness, which struck main man Jason Pierce in 2005. Time spent in intensive care interrupted the writing and recording of the follow up record prior to, and after, his illness.

Inevitably, this setback turned into an inspiration... Following the completion of the A&E recording sessions in 2007 Spiritualized presented their Acoustic Mainlines live show, where they previewed 'acoustic' versions of new and old material. The much acclaimed shows were performed at many and various festivals and revered venues, including the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York.

Acoustic Mainlines will play their last few shows at the iTunes Festival on Sunday 2nd March at Air Studios in London followed by a handful of US West Coast shows culminating with the renowned Coachella Festival in April. The band will be touring with full line-up and additional gospel singers in May; including shows at Benicassim in Spain, Summer Sonic in Japan and extensive venues and festivals throughout the UK, Europe and USA.

The Runners

The Runners

It's been a very good year for The Runners.

The Hertford band have played a live session on Steve LeMaq's Radio One show and recently won the NME Red Stripe Music Award competition, which got them a place at London’s Lovebox festival on 22 July, where they will appear alongside The Blood Arm, The Maccabees, The Pigeon Detectives and Mumm-ra on the Barfly stage.

Then, this week (16 July 2007) they released their debut single 'Get In Line'.

Described as being "Like ... The Kooks without the stage school", they seem to be going from strength to strength. And to add to that - they are jolly nice chaps!

A nitro fuelled party band with a story to tell and big stage presence. Expect something special from this choppy pop indie act.
