Club Goo hit the Cambridge scene running on July 14th 2005. The first night saw nearly 500 people through the door to see the first Cambridge appearance by The Kooks, as well as longstanding favourites of ours Dive Dive. Goo was started by the people from Green Mind, who have been promoting in Cambridge for the last 5 1/2 years and have clocked up some 25 years of indie gig and club going between them, despite being in their 20s! Indie's Goo's love and in these days of fly by night promoters putting on indie clubs by numbers, Goo sticks out.
In the last year Goo's had live sets from The Arctic Monkeys, iForward, Russia, Boy Kill Boy, The Kooks, Milburn, The Rifles, Razorlight and DJ sets and appearances from Editors, Mystery Jets, We Are Scientists and loads more.
The usual format is bands from 8pm until 11 with DJs playing the rarer, more obscure indie, punk and electro cuts between bands, followed by our resident DJs playing all the newest tunes with some choice classics thrown in. This is not your usual provincial indie revival night, but a more upfront and imaginative night where you can experience quality bands and DJs for little more than the price of entry to more straight forward clubs.
