John's first Essex restaurant was opened in Wethersfield in 1989 and was called Dickens Restaurant. Dickens Restaurant Café Bar in Halstead, Essex continues to maintain the standards customers have come to expect from a John Dicken restaurant. Dickens Restaurant Café Bar is the result of the passion that John Dicken applies to his businesses. Located in the Townsford Mill in Halstead within easy reach from Braintree and Sudbury in Suffolk, Dickens Restaurant Café Bar was completely refitted from the floors up and opened in 2003. Christmas 2007 will be the fifth Christmas for Dickens Restaurant Café Bar and represents another success for John and his restaurants. New customers are always welcome and reservations are recommended as regular customers continue to come and enjoy the dishes created by Chef John Dicken.
