Tape Modern

Tape Modern
The Shop
Tape Modern are proud to present an unforgettable musical experience with live performances from Michachu, Wet Dog and an extremely exciting mystery guest performer.

Witness live music as never before in this extraordinarily intimate venue, XVIII Jesus Lane.
Don't just let us tell you how great the acts are, here's what "industry experts" have to say:

Michachu: "Perhaps the real beauty of Mica's talent is despite her prodigious musical ability she without fail keeps things rough around the edges: no polished beats when big fat dirty ones will do, obvious choruses eschewed for intricate yet subtle melodies that grow and grow...She has recently supported the Mystery Jets, Bat For Lashes and Foals " (Celestial Recordings)
Time Out also named her "one of London's most interesting songwriters"

All-female trio from London Town, Wet Dog have been making waves with the release of their debut record, "Enterprise Reversal", on Angular Recordings. Featured in Plan B and favourites of Xfm, who love their "simple, raw and honest sound."

We can't wait to see you!!!

The Living Room Live

The Living Room Live
CB2
The Living Room is, according to NME, the premier acoustic night in Cambridge. The event takes place fortnightly and both bands and singer/songwriters are invited to perform their work in acoustic format. This gives the audience a chance to hear acts perform their songs in a way perhaps not usually heard, although for many artists it is how the songs were originally written... perhaps even in their own living room!

The Living Room is hosted by Lord Bridge in his own living room, where the audience sit among like-minded people listening to wonderful music the way nature intended.

See the website for details of performers:
http://www.myspace.com/thelivingroomlive

Doors open at 8:30pm. Entry is £4 or £3 for 209Radio members. Tickets can be purchased in advance from www.wegottickets.com

Arrive fashionably on-time to avoid disappointment. Please be aware that the audience sit on soft furnishings on the floor but some chairs will be available on a first come first served basis.

The Living Room now has its own compilation CD (The Living Room Live) featuring live songs played at the night. The CD is available to buy at the venue, at other selected shops in Cambridge and on iTunes.

The Living Room has now featured on the UK festival scene and we have taken it, and some of the best acts we have booked for the Cambridge venue, to places such as The Secret Garden Festival, Blissfields (in 2008), Grass Roots, Strawberry Fair and more. The Living Room stage has also featured at the UK Festival Awards.

Hope Street Music is a not-for-profit organisation designed to support local music. All profits are put back into local music projects.

Taizé harmony chanting

Taizé harmony chanting
Friends Meeting House Cambridge

Every 2nd and 4th Sunday each month Ralph Nimmann is leading this harmony singing group.

Taizé chants and rounds are simple and create this special magic which sometimes sends shivers down the spine. The harmonies can resonate with the soul and uplift the spirit.

We sing simple rounds or 2, 3 or 4 part harmony chants form the christian tradition, mostly from the Taizé community.
We just sing and introduce each voice. Complete beginners are welcome. Everyone who thinks, they cannot sing: don't worry, you are not alone.

Please see more at http://www.rainbow-cambridge.org.uk/chanting/taize.htm

You are cordially invited to stay for the following silent Quaker Meeting at 10:30AM
