The Malingerers - a 5 piece old time band playing original songs clearly influenced from a melting pot of traditional country, blues and rock’n’roll (Hank Williams, Merle Travis, Leadbelly, Woodie Guthrie etc.) but as you’d expect, combined with a warped sense of humour and history!

Faith Taylor - ' Brimming with wit, Faith's perceptive folk-pop is pierced beautifully by her haunting high wire voice'.

The Morning People

The Morning People aka Sam Inglis
The Morning People
Globe Ale House, The
As you may have noticed, the impending financial apocalypse means that newspapers are currently full of space-filling columns suggesting feeble and impractical ways to save money. So, if you've already put your unwanted goods on eBay and switched the weekly shop to Aldi, what else can you do to trim the bills?

Well, under normal circumstances, if you wanted to go and see a gig by Cambridge superstar, Broken Family Band frontman and legendary nice guy Steven J Adams, you'd have to pay. After all, he has to live. But this Saturday brings a unique chance to see him perform a headline set for nowt, courtesy of the good people at the Globe Ale House.

There's fine support from country-blues singer-songwriter David Greeves and semi-resident weirdos The Morning People, there's ace DJing from Will, and it really, really won't cost you a penny.

Cara Luft

Cara Luft
CB2
CARA LUFT
Canadian Cara Luft was a founder member of The Wailin' Jennys and is turning heads with her blend of roots, folk, rock and country music. With her unique Alt-Roots sound, Luft has a richly deserved reputation as a triple threat: powerfully elegant guitar work, imaginative songwriting and a distinctive voice that penetrates to the core.

With rhythmic grooves, fleet fingers and a commanding resonant sound, Cara is a guitar maven of open tunings, branching out into mandolin and clawhammer banjo. Her writing is a blend of social commentary, imagination and musical intensity. In performance she balances pathos with joy, telling hilarious stories between songs.

Cara will be appearing with Hugh McMillan on bass and vocals.

NAVARO
Navaro combines the talents of singer/songwriters Beth Navaro, Pete White and Steve Austin. Now a beautifully formed trio they create a melodic 'singers collective' where the sound is about voices and the song is the star. The trio share lead vocal duties and combine in ways determined by the song. In some respects they follow in the tradition of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

GUS MACGREGOR
Gus MacGregor is the former front man of Loman and is an accomplished singer/songwriter whose style has been compared to Paul Simon, Don McLean, Damian Rice and Bob Dylan. As an actor he was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2000. Since then he been writing, performing and recording with a range of artists including Judie Tzuke, KD Lang, Ray Lamontagne, Nizlopi and Glen Tilbrook.

North Boston's Eileen Rose is a quietly intense artist, her voice cannot hide the subtle rapture behind her melodic lyrical offerings. Eileen Rose writes and performs with a poet's heart and story-teller's soul; her songs all have strong narrative quality and substance.

What is so enjoyable is that Eileen Rose accomplishes this without sounding heavy or dark: Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits come to mind. There is a feeling of hope, defiance and victory behind even their darkest songs.
