Fairy tales, adventure novels, Hollywood movies - stories in their many guises are a part of the fabric of our cultural identity, exerting a formative influence on our thinking and our values.

In this programme we hear sacred and secular stories by Carissimi, Strozzi, Merula, d'India and others. From very different corners of Europe, the baroque harpist Marie Bournisien (France) and the two sopranos Kristine Jaunalksne (Latvia) and Ulrike Hofbauer (Germany) bring a highly unusual approach to this entrancing music.

      Sing For Peace In Georgia

      Sing For Peace In Georgia
      St Edwards Church

Let's sing for the Peace in Georgia

Chela is a small Cambridge based choir who sing traditional, religious and folk songs of Georgia. As a demonstration of support and solidarity with the people of Georgia, Chela will ‘Sing for Peace in Georgia’ on Wednesday, 20 August at 6pm at St Edwards Church, Market Hill, Cambridge (behind the Guildhall). This will be a synchronized sing with choirs in Georgia, Turkey, Corsica, Brittany, Paris and London.

All are welcome.  A small collection for refugees and good causes in Georgia will be made.

The Georgian polyphony, listed on the Unesco World Heritage, is a thousand-year-old tradition of singing which accompanies the life of Georgians in joy and pain, in celebration and mourning. It is also the ferment of courage and solidarity that enabled Georgia to outlast the difficulties.

The conflict between Russia and Georgia claimed lots of lives during those last days. Whole populations were scattered. A flimsy agreement of a cease-fire was signed by both countries.

SCAR MY EYES TOUR!w/ NATO & Many things Untold

SCAR MY EYES TOUR!w/ NATO & Many things Untold
      Man On The Moon
Scar my Eyes come to Cambridge on their 3rd UK tour this summer.

      Royston (Brown Town), Hertfordshire. U.K.
Coming from a place more well known for it's heroin habits than local music scene, you could forgive these guys for being a little bit different to your average metal band. While most bands around the U.K. had some sort of blueprint to follow, Scar My Eyes sat back in a small youth centre in the depths of no-where and constructed a sound both heavy, and heartfelt.

Combining their love for thrash metal, hardcore and heavy grooves, Scar My Eyes created a new, refreshing take on modern music adding a darker edge that truly sets them out from the rest....A formidable live act...to say the least...

With the successful nationwide sale of their Double 'A' Side single recorded by Dan Weller and Justin Hill of ex SiKTh (R.I.P) and now 'Minutes', Scar My Eyes have since released their debut EP 'This Machine...' (again recorded by Dan and Justin) After a successful month long UK tour in support of their latest EP 'This Machine...' Scar My Eyes are booking their second 2008 UK tour with Open the Skies and Lavondyss in support of it's release...

Scar My Eyes have just recently signed a deal with TMG (Transcend Media Group) to release 'This Machine...' on Transcend Records. Look out for the Transcend release date coming soon!!
