Jenni Alpert and Cara Winter

Jenni Alpert and Cara Winter
CB2
Jenni Alpert (USA):
Jenni performs her self-penned songs in a style that mixes jazz, soul, and rock. She combines the best of Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, Jeff Buckley, Billie Holiday, and Joni Mitchell in a way that is truly unique. Her rich compositions, performed on both piano and acoustic guitar, and a captivating stage presence reveal deep languorous moods that will take you on an unexpected journey of sublime discovery. Alpert has independently released five albums and two live recordings. Originally from Los Angeles, Alpert arranges her own tours coast to coast and internationally.

Cara Winter:
Influenced by musicians such as Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos, 19-year old Cara's song writing draws on her studies in English, Philosophy and Religious Ethics for inspiration. After finishing her A-levels in 2004 she began work on her first album "Butterfly". Featuring 10 songs written during the previous year, she is joined on the album by a number of friends on cello, percussion and voice. Cara's music has been described as "atmospheric, emotional and evocative, a fairytale told with a mature and compelling voice".

She has performed regularly around the Bishops Stortford and Cambridge area as well as in London and has recently supported Amy Wadge and Rickie Ross (Deacon Blue) and headlined at the Stortford Music Festival. Cara is currently working on songs for a second album.
"a heartening and memorable debut that delivers much and promises even more" Toby Allanson (Observer)

Bella Hardy, Gilmore and Roberts
CB2
Bella Hardy and Chris Sherburn:
Acclaimed singer Bella Hardy, twice nominated in the BBC Folk Awards 2008, has a voice marked as '...mesmerising' and '...faultless'. Having spent ten years playing some of folk's biggest stages with festival regulars The Pack and Ola, she launched her debut solo album Night Visiting in Autumn 2007 to overwhelming critical support. Bella has now established herself as one of the finest young folk acts around, singing unaccompanied ballads, or entwining her hypnotic voice with her own fiddle accompaniment to breathtaking effect.
"...Bella Hardy is more than a new generation folk revivalist... Her potential is massive. Meanwhile this is an exciting, accomplished debut." - fRoots
For this performance she is joined by Chris Sherburn from 'Last Night's Fun'.

Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts are an exciting upcoming acoustic act, blending contemporary singer-songwriter styles with complex rhythmic arrangements to create a new kind of roots fusion. With a wealth of original material in both vocal and instrumental genres, they combine sharp musical ability and considered harmonies with a fresh slant on today's folk scene.
