Shavnabada returns after a brief visit to Cambridge in May 2009 where they were seen as outstanding. One of the Patriarch's choirs, Shavnabada makes accessible to an English audience Georgian traditions, song, (both chuch and folk), dance and culture through an English narrative and exciting performance.

Lead by Davit Tsintsadze the artistic director and inspiration behind the choir of 12 strong male voices, Shavnabada's passions lie in resurrecting Monastery and Folk Music that had all but disappeared from Georgian culture as a result of Georgia being part of the Soviet Union. Davit has made it his life's work to find, record and film examples of traditional Georgian singing in order to preserve, resurrect, sing and celebrate it across the country and across the world. Shavnabada have been schooled by the great Anzor Erkomaishvili, who founded the Rustavi ensemble and it is within this spirit Shavnabada now perform and teach otherwise previously unheard Georgian folk and church music.

Shavnabada will be giving a workshop at St. Paul's church Thursday 11th November 7:00-10:00pm
choirs choirs Church dance folk Georgian Traditional world music Wed, 08 Sep 2010 14:15:30 +0000 3677 at http://movingtone.com St Neots Folk Club http://movingtone.com/events/st-neots-folk-club-6

Start: 16 Dec 2008 - 20:15

End: 16 Dec 2008 - 23:00

Timezone: Etc/GMT

Dec 2: Martyn Wyndham-Read
Martyn is well known on the folk scene - rich vocals and a vast repertoire of material. Has been playing guitar since the age of 7 and made his first solo album in 1971. Working mainly in the areas now known as "Folk" or "Celtic" music, he has recorded quite extensively since then in many countries and in various combinations. Has also worked extensively as a session musician in a wide variety of musical styles.
Having very eclectic tastes, he also plays everything from free jazz and rock to country music and has studied orchestration to develop his compositional and midi programming skills. He plays most fretted stringed instruments but his natural instrument, and perhaps what he is happiest doing, is acoustic guitar. His greatest musical love is for the ancient traditional Scots ballads. Also know as The Muckle Sangs (the big songs), these are the big story songs which form a substantial part of Scotland's living wealth of traditional song.

A Greenmind Gig.
http://www.greenmind.co.uk/

Booking Info:
Book via The Junction Box Office 01223 511511
folk gigs - acoustic Traditional Sat, 18 Oct 2008 19:15:54 +0000 1585 at http://movingtone.com Hitchin Folk Club http://movingtone.com/events/hitchin-folk-club-2

Start: 5 Oct 2008 - 19:30

End: 5 Oct 2008 - 23:00

Timezone: Etc/GMT

October events:
5th - Allan Taylor
12th - Chris While & Julie Matthews
19th - Bob Fox & Stu Luckley
26th - John Tams & Barry Coope plus Ceri Davies
See the website www.hitchinfolkclub.co.uk or Email goodmusic@hitchinfolkclub.co.uk for more info
folk gigs - acoustic gigs - electric roots Traditional Mon, 29 Sep 2008 21:24:53 +0000 1368 at http://movingtone.com Hitchin Folk Club http://movingtone.com/events/hitchin-folk-club-0

Start: 19 Oct 2008 - 19:30

End: 19 Oct 2008 - 23:00

Timezone: Etc/GMT

October events:
5th - Allan Taylor
12th - Chris While & Julie Matthews
19th - Bob Fox & Stu Luckley
26th - John Tams & Barry Coope plus Ceri Davies
See the website www.hitchinfolkclub.co.uk or Email goodmusic@hitchinfolkclub.co.uk for more info
folk gigs - acoustic gigs - electric roots Traditional Mon, 29 Sep 2008 21:24:53 +0000 1370 at http://movingtone.com Hitchin Folk Club http://movingtone.com/events/hitchin-folk-club

Start: 12 Oct 2008 - 19:30

End: 12 Oct 2008 - 23:00

Timezone: Etc/GMT

October events:
5th - Allan Taylor
12th - Chris While & Julie Matthews
19th - Bob Fox & Stu Luckley
26th - John Tams & Barry Coope plus Ceri Davies
See the website www.hitchinfolkclub.co.uk or Email goodmusic@hitchinfolkclub.co.uk for more info
folk gigs - acoustic gigs - electric roots Traditional Mon, 29 Sep 2008 21:24:53 +0000 1369 at http://movingtone.com
