The Living Room Live

Event image
The Living Room Live
CB2
The Living Room is, according to NME, the premier acoustic night in Cambridge. The event takes place fortnightly and both bands and singer/songwriters are invited to perform their work in acoustic format. This gives the audience a chance to hear acts perform their songs in a way perhaps not usually heard, although for many artists it is how the songs were originally written... perhaps even in their own living room!

The Living Room is hosted by Lord Bridge in his own living room, where the audience sit among like-minded people listening to wonderful music the way nature intended.

See the website for details of performers:
http://www.myspace.com/thelivingroomlive
Doors open at 8:30pm. Entry is £4 or £3 for 209Radio members. Tickets can be purchased in advance from www.wegottickets.com

Arrive fashionably on-time to avoid disappointment. Please be aware that the audience sit on soft furnishings on the floor but some chairs will be available on a first come first served basis.

The Living Room now has its own compilation CD (The Living Room Live) featuring live songs played at the night. The CD is available to buy at the venue, at other selected shops in Cambridge and on iTunes.

The Living Room has now featured on the UK festival scene and we have taken it, and some of the best acts we have booked for the Cambridge venue, to places such as The Secret Garden Festival, Blissfields (in 2008), Grass Roots, Strawberry Fair and more. The Living Room stage has also featured at the UK Festival Awards.

Hope Street Music is a not-for-profit organisation designed to support local music. All profits are put back into local music projects.

The Displacements

Soul Tree
'pThe love-battered romance of a mid-teen Morrissey, the flat-capped indie twinkle of The Housemartins' says the NME, who also said - "The Displacements, who resembles the Buzzcocks with an even softer heart, yet who rock like their lives might cease the moment they discover the fourth chord. Really, that's all we ask."

The Displacements, made up of school friends and brothers, Andy Stone, Nick Eversfield, Joe Wilson and James Stone are taking the music scene by storm.

After two sold out limited singles on legendary record label Stiff Records, tours with The Enemy, Glasvegas, The Courteeners and The Twang, and latest single Down and Out selling over 1500 copies before it was officially released, 2008 and beyond will be theirs.

The Rascals

The Rascals
Junction 1, The

This event is rescheduled from 29 September. Tickets purchased for the original date are still valid.

Out of the ashes of The Little Flames, who did more than their fair share of Green Mind shows, has risen The Rascals. Mixing 60s beat groups with influences ranging from dub to more cinematic sides, they're more than just a band whose singer collaborates with 'im from the Arctic Monkeys.

THE WEDDING PRESENT

THE WEDDING PRESENT
Junction 1, The
UK indie legends make a welcome return to the Junction after their last show at the venue for it's second birthday party, way back in February 1992! Suffice to say at Green Mind towers we're very excited to be the ones to bring them back! For over 20 years the band have defined what it means to be indie, stubbornly refusing to play the game, yet managing to get 18 top 40 hits in the process and a rabidly loyal fanbase. Book early and enjoy!

Five live Indie bands for a fiver.

Guildean Gang - The boys have been together for a year and a half and have supported The
wombats, look see proof, lightspeed champion, boy kill boy, the
subways, good shoes etc in the last year.

Their debut single 'Swirls' came out in may and got into the indie
top 40 as well as the XFM main playlist and MTV2. The boys have also
played sold out gigs around the country, including the cambridge
junction and camden proud galleries (both over 800 capacity) and we have
strong interest from industry at the moment.
