Kevin Dempsey and Joe Broughton

Kevin Dempsey and Joe Broughton
Lamb Hotel, The
Kevin is a guitarist, singer and producer second to none. He has extensive experience in the music business, having worked with everyone from Percy Sledge to Dando Shaft and The Marvelettes to Alice Coltrane. Not forgetting the incredible 'Whippersnapper' whose line-up also included Dave Swarbrick, Chris Leslie and Martin Jenkins. He is also playing in Swarb's Lazarus along with Dave Swarbrick and Maartin Allcock.

Joe is a classically trained violin player, although his style owes much more to Folk, Jazz and Blues. Throughout his childhood up to the present day Joe has been performing with his brother Ben and he was a member of the legendary Albion Band 1997 - 2003. Between 1987 and 1992 Joe worked in circuses, at which time the BBC made a short film about his diverse talents.

Kevin's last visit to Ely Folk Club was with Uiscedwr in December 2007 when he not only played a superb set, but also starred in the Ely Folk Club Christmas pantomime - oh yes he did!

Gigspanner

Gigspanner
Lamb Hotel, The
Having now clocked up almost 40 years with Steeleye Span, fiddle player Peter Knight's name and reputation are known to most people with an interest in traditional music. His idiosyncratic style, which effortlessly traverses several genres, has been an inspiration to many, and yet to a great extent the full range of his playing is still largely unknown. That is about to change..... Wishing to create an opportunity to explore more fully the areas of Music that interest him, Peter created his own trio ‘Gigspanner' specifically to give him an outlet for the Music that he is most passionate about playing. He is joined by guitarist Roger Flack and Afro-percussionist Vincent Salzfaas. Leave your pre-conceptions at the door. Together they explore traditional music and its related themes with breathtaking energy, brilliance and spontaneity. It is music regarded with a fresh eye, and yet retains a sense of the familiar at its heart.
