The Shills

Forged out of a sense of shared frustration and lack of purpose, The Shills were formed by brothers Tom and Olly Yates and childhood allies Dickon Collinson and Brian Zielinski-Smith. Six months into their musical collaboration they enlisted the talents of Rob D'Ath and set about creating an engaging, evocative and compelling sound. The Shills have combined the subtlety and poetry of The Smiths, with the vitriolic passion of the Manic's, and believe they will soon be catapulted out of their emasculating surroundings and into the minds of many.Starting with gigs around Cambridge in 2006, they subsequently recorded a demo, ‘The Flightpath Sessions’, which led to radio play and gigs supporting New York’s Five O’clock Heroes, Leeds based Kid Id and Johnny Panic.

Guildean Gang

The boys have been together for a year and a half and have supported The
wombats, look see proof, lightspeed champion, boy kill boy, the
subways, good shoes etc in the last year.

Their debut single 'Swirls' came out in may and got into the indie
top 40 as well as the XFM main playlist and MTV2. The boys have also
played sold out gigs around the country, including the cambridge
junction and camden proud galleries (both over 800 capacity) and we have
strong interest from industry at the moment.

worriedaboutsatan
Sometimes known as Gavin Miller and Tom Raggsdale, play electronic music with heart and soul. Their sound is like that of a hazy, dopesick, threeway-duel between Underworld, Trent Moeller and Explosions in the Sky.

"Literally Jaw Dropping.... its hard to imagine a post rock/electronic hybrid that isn't just derivative of 65 days of static, but worriedaboutsatan delivers it in spades" Silent Ballet

"Gripping soundscapes...skewering explosions in the sky sentimentalism with synths and broken beats...breathtaking" Rock Sound

Cigars of the Pharoah
A new solo project of MK born Leeds resident Alex Myers, he hates Patrick Kielty. He focuses this deep rage through a variety of electronic devices; resulting quite surprisingly in heartfelt glitchcore punctuated at various intervals by vocals, acoustic guitar and tender synths.

Clubglobal presents The Vodou Jazz Factory

Clubglobal presents The Vodou Jazz Factory
Barfly - closed 4 June 2008
Vodou Jazz Factory grew out of some conga workshops in Cambridge. The band plays rhythms from Haitian Vodou, Brazilian Candomble, Cuban Santeria and Highlife. We add melodies and jazz solos and we want to produce dance-till-you-drop music. The band is new, in 2008, and this will be their second gig. We are developing some new material to extend our set and hope to grow a whole new jazz sound over the next year or so. We play with a rhythmic and melodic structure but no detailed script, a basic tune and solos from everyone, so no two performances will ever be the same

The influences are from Jane's obsessions with Nigerian bands, Dele Abiodun and Fela Kuti, and from Sun Ra, Art Blakey, Nana Vasconcelos, Paapa Mensah and other members of the Mensah clan.
