Identical twin sisters Charlotte and Laura Carrivick have grown up playing and writing music together. Their unique style shows their strong bluegrass influences without obscuring their English roots. With tight harmonies that only siblings can achieve, they perform their original songs on guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and clawhammer banjo. They have performed both in the UK and internationally.

Both sisters have had varied musical influences. Laura started out with Classical violin at 10 but was soon more interested in folk music, playing along to Chieftains CD’s. Charlotte also started out classically, but in her case with guitar. Charlotte picked up the mandolin a few years later and in 2003 they attended the ‘Sore Fingers’ bluegrass course. This was where Laura first heard the dobro, which she started playing a year later. In recent months Charlotte has taken up the clawhammer banjo, sometimes bringing a more old timey feel to their sound.

The sounds of the southern states of America come to Hadstock on Saturday 31 May when one of Britain's top bluegrass bands, Monroe's Revenge, come to play. Named after Bill Monroe, who defined the sound of the music back in the 1940s with his band the Blue Grass Boys, Monroe's Revenge have been entertaining British audiences up and down the country for more than two decades. With songs about the good and bad, glad and sad times, peppered with hard-driving banjo, fiddle and mandolin playing, this should be a night out to remember. The live show, presented with good humour, expertise and intelligence, features virtuoso instrumental performances, exquisite vocal harmonies, superb original song-writing, and a great deal of eccentric humour; in other words - entertainment for discerning audiences, especially those who like real musicians, playing real musical instruments.

COUP DE GRASS evolved from a band originally called the Cross Country Flyers, formed by Keith Pearson in the early 80s with Tim Jellis and Phil Milner, after Keith won the Marlboro Country Music Contest. In 1989, World Harmonica Champion, James Darby, joined the line-up, seeking to form a hotshot Country Band. The resulting mixture of styles gave rise to a new band called The Hitkickers. Over several years this unique band acquired a cult following among the more musically adventurous fans of British Country. Having decided to concentrate on Folk and World Music festivals and concerts, rather than C and W clubs. The band formerly known as The Hitkickers (and occasionally also known as the Bluegrass Gentlemen and the Left Hand Band) is now officially called COUP DE GRASS.
