Their unique style shows their strong bluegrass influences without obscuring their English roots. With tight harmonies that only siblings can achieve, they perform their original songs on guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and clawhammer banjo. They have performed both in the UK and internationally.

Both sisters have had varied musical influences. Laura started out with Classical violin at 10 but was soon more interested in folk music, playing along to Chieftains CD’s. Charlotte also started out classically, but in her case with guitar. Charlotte picked up the mandolin a few years later and in 2003 they attended the ‘Sore Fingers’ bluegrass course. This was where Laura first heard the dobro, which she started playing a year later. In recent months Charlotte has taken up the clawhammer banjo, sometimes bringing a more old timey feel to their sound.

www.duntonfolk.co.uk
acoustic bluegrass folk gigs - acoustic Sun, 09 Mar 2014 08:13:09 +0000 Dunton Folk 5280 at http://movingtone.com Dunton Folk - Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar in Concert http://movingtone.com/events/dunton-folk-greg-russell-and-ciaran-algar-concert

Start: 20 Jul 2013 - 12:05

Timezone: Etc/GMT

Winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2013.

In 2011 multi-instrumentalist Ciaran (Fiddle, Bouzouki, Guitar, Vocals) met and joined forces with Chester-born Greg (Vocals, Guitar, Bouzouki, English Concertina) to form a duo with an "amazing level of energy, ability and stagecraft" (The Prospect Folk Club, Runcorn). Played exquisitely on traditional instrumentation including cello, oboe, mandolin and accordion (amongst many others), the band use influences from the musical spectrum to create a sound that has been described as ‘mesmerizing’ . With two albums to their name and a third in the making, they are fast becoming one of the most respected acts on the scene today".

Folking Live Bracknell

11th March. Their material covers a wide range from acoustic reworks of rock and roll and soul classics, through country, folk and jazz, to covers of modern acoustic music. Lizzie and Jo are both trained performers, and Keith has 40 years of semi pro performance behind him, and is honoured to support the youngsters.

25th March.
