With our roots in the close four part harmonies of barbershop songs we have developed our repertoire to widen our appeal across a broader musical spectrum. We believe that we and our audiences should have fun. Our successes in barbershop competitions include; European Champions 2001 and 2005; British Champions 1999; 2002; 2004; 2006 Millennium Champions 2000. In July 2004 we scooped the supreme ‘Choir of the World' trophy at the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen winning against two Swedish mixed voice choirs and a Welsh male voice choir in the final.

Adjudicator David King said: "Make no mistake, Cambridge Chord Company were the clear winners. There have been many great Choirs of the World, but this one I'll remember. Their performance lit up the festival". Competitive singing gives a focus for the activities of the chorus but not to the exclusion of other musical performance. Under the guidance of our enormously talented Musical Director, Paul Davies, Cambridge Chord Company continues to extend its unusual and highly entertaining repertoire, most of it arranged by Paul.

acoustic band barbershop choirs polyphony Tue, 22 Apr 2008 14:11:44 +0000 Alycia Hayes 136 at http://movingtone.com
