As part of the series of Red Hot Rock and Curry Nights (building up to, and raising funds for, the Cambridge Rock Festival) Who's Next? - a tribute to The Who – will be playing a Wood Green Animal Shelter, Godmanchester Saturday 21 June.
Formed in the summer of 2003, Who's Next has gone from strength to strength playing to thousands of people in some of the finest venues in the UK and Europe. A four piece band, as were the original line up of The Who, Who's Next are now highly regarded as the premier live tribute to The Who and give performances that faithfully recreate the energy and atmosphere of The Who's live gigs. Articulate interpretations of Townsend's pop nuggets and all-out rock anthems such as Substitute, My Generation and Pinball Wizard are showcased along with show-stopping versions of Won't Get Fooled Again and BaBa O'Riley are a must for all Who fans. As the moniker of the event suggests, the price of the ticket also includes a curry supper - a sizzling event in more way. than one.
The 2008 Cambridge Rock Festival itself will take place 17-20 July at Wood Green, with two stages and a recently announced line up that includes The Blockheads, Bad Company, Marillion, Eddie and the Hotrods, Deborah Bonham and Andy Fairweather Low. The event - entitled Rockinbeerfest until last year - also sticks to its roots and includes a huge selection of beers, ciders and real ales on site.
