Moving Tone salutes Joan Morrell, the great founder and organiser of the Cambridge Modern Jazz Club, who passed away on 20 November, following an illness caused by cancer.
Joan's family have sent out the following message:
Joan Morrell passed peacefully away on Sunday 20th of November, her family by her side.
The funeral will take place on the 7th of December 2011 at the Brinkley Woodland Burial Ground, Near Six Mile Bottom, Newmarket, Suffolk, at 11.30 am
A simple service will be held at the grave site and is open to all that wish to attend. Because Brinkley is a natural site there are no facilities, therefore please bear in mind the weather and come prepared.
Joan’s wake will be held at Hidden Rooms, Jesus lane, Cambridge where there will be an open mike for anyone who wishes to say or play something for her. We’d like her wake to be a celebration of her life so the more the merrier. Let’s make this, her last gig, a sell out! 12.30pm ‘til late……..
Flowers or donations to the Arthur Rank Hospice or Cancer Research to be sent via the funeral directors please. Flowers should be requested to arrive before 9.00am on the day if you wish them to be included in the hearse.
