American psychobilly band The Quakes will perform an intimate gig at the Man on the Moon in Cambridge on Sunday 3rd August. Promoted by Last Gang In Town, this will be one of only six UK dates for The Quakes: it is by far their smallest venue.
American psychobilly legends since the 80's, The Quakes were one of the very first American psychobilly bands and remain an incredible influence on the American psychobilly scene. In 2006 The Quakes celebrated their 20 year anniversary and did a 34 show tour of the USA and then 23 more shows all across Europe and Russia. Although this is the first UK tour for nearly 15 years, The Quakes are no strangers to these shores having played the legendary Klubfoot back in 1988, and even selling-up and moving to London for a while. Their amazing psychobilly and rockabilly sound has earned them legions of fans on both sides of the Atlantic, and this is a rare chance to see such a legendary outfit in an intimate venue.
To support The Quakes Last Gang In Town have booked two psychobilly / rockabilly / rock'n'roll bands, and there'll also be Last Gang In Town DJ's in between bands. The main support band are Henry & The Bleeders from Bedford who have generated quite a following in the scene already. This will be their third return to the Moon for a Last Gang In Town gig. The third band on the bill are The Graveyard Johnnies who are travelling from South Wales for the opportunity to play at a Last Gang In Town gig and support The Quakes.
Doors open at 7pm, The Quakes will be onstage from 9pm until 10pm, with DJ's until 11pm. This is because the gig is on a Sunday night and Last Gang In Town 'know that a lot of people will be travelling from outside of Cambridge for this gig and will need to get up for work on Monday morning'. Entry is only £6. Ticket reservations can be made by emailing Last Gang In Town at lastgangintownuk@yahoo.co.uk.
