PREVIEW: Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held at King's College Chapel in Cambridge on Christmas Eve this year.

 

The service was created in 1918, 'to bring a more imaginative approach to worship'. It was first broadcast on radio in 1928, and is now broadcast on Radio Four, on BBC World Service, on around three hundred radio stations in the USA,and in many other countries throughout the world.The first carol is always Once In Royal David's City and there is a newly commissioned carol every year.

 

The service starts at 3pm and continues until 4.30. To get a place in the chapel it is advised that you join the queue before 9am.
