Hot Numbers cafe on Gwydir Street offers an irresistible menu of coffee and music. Portraits of jazz greats look over customers as they sip gourmet coffee served by fanatical proprietor Simon Fraser. Vinyl records provide soothing background music in the daytime and on Thursdays opening hours are extended for a weekly live music night.
This week London duo Helen Burnett and Richard Rozze play to a full house. Richard’s ambling guitar melodies provide a soothing accompaniment for Helen’s dynamic vocals. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a fine summer evening. They play short sets of covers and original pieces. There is a convivial atmosphere and the coffee and conversation flow during the regular intervals.
Hot Numbers has rarely been empty since opening earlier this year. The combination of fine coffee and food, stylish decor and music have made it an instant hit with locals. The live music has proved equally popular and there is an extensive line up of musicians scheduled to perform in the coming months.
Live music runs from 7 to 10pm every Thursday. There is no admission charge but a collection is taken and corkage is charged for customers who bring their own alcohol. Arrive early to get a seat and enjoy a relaxing evening of splendid music and quality coffee served just the way you like it.
