Handel's Messiah and Polyphony
Sunday 14 December at 7:30pm, Norwich Theatre Royal
Thursday 18 December at 7:30pm, Ely Cathedral
Britten Sinfonia joins Polyphony for their annual performances of Handel's most well-known oratorio with a cast of young, talented soloists. For the last ten years Polyphony's concerts of Messiah have sold out consistently, owing to their vibrant portrait of this work's stunning choruses and brilliant solo arias.
Under Stephen Layton, the choir have stunned audiences since 1986, releasing numerous, highly-acclaimed recordings both alone and in collaboration with Britten Sinfonia. Described as "one of the best small choirs now before the public" (Daily Telegraph), Polyphony have established this annual performance as a major event in the London Christmas calendar, leading to reviews like "no one but no one performs Handel's Messiah better every year than the choir Polyphony under the conductor Stephen Layton" (Evening Standard).
