Cambridge indie band Hamfatter look set for the big time, following an appearance on the TV business show Dragon’s Den. In the progamme, on which they performed their song Sziget, they accepted tycoon Peter Jones’s offer of £75,000 in exchange for 30% of future profits.
Since the programme, their single The Girl I Love has been selling like hot cakes, with over 4000 downloads. As they wrote on their website last week:
‘It's been a crazy week in the Hamfatter camp. We've been all over the telly, Steve Wright is playing us every day on Radio 2, we hit number 1 in the play.com download chart (number 20 in the itunes download chart at one point) and finished up at number 71 in the overall charts, we think - purely on downloads (the CD and vinyl single are released in a few weeks).’
