Anglia Ruskin's Festival of Music and Drama

A Festival of Music and Drama will be rolled out by Anglia Ruskin University's Department of Music and Performing Arts from Monday 2 June to Friday 6 June at the University's Music Recital Hall, at East Road, Cambridge, and at The Junction, Cambridge.

The programme of assessed solo and ensemble music recitals given by Anglia Ruskin music students will feature world music, electric-acoustic and jazz music alongside traditional classical recitals. The concerts will include performances by Anglia Ruskin World Music Ensemble (directed by Jon Banks), Anglia Ruskin Jazz Orchestra (directed by Kevin Flanagan) and Anglia Gospel Voices(directed by Jacinth Mhende).

Several recitals will be held each day, usually at 12 noon, 2.30pm, 5.00pm and 7.30pm.

The festival also includes drama with devised performances by Anglia Contemporary Theatre of Crime Scene (supervised by Gianna Bouchard), and Double Games (supervised by Nigel Ward). These two performances created by the students explore criminality, watching, our obsession with forensic TV programmes and the body.

They are presented by Year Three drama students and shows will be performed as a double bill. The repeat performances on Wednesday 4 and 5 June will be held at The Junction, Clifton Way, Cambridge.

Alan Rochford, Festival Director: "We have a packed programme of quality music and drama events included in this year's five day festival. ‘The performances are spectacularly diverse, ranging from innovative classical concerts, to free flowing jazz sessions, and the showcasing of the very latest in Creative Music Technology, so there is something to enthrall and delight everyone. The music events are all free and the theatre output, from our outstanding and irrepressible students, is promising, as always, to be exceptional.'

Admission is free to all performances except Anglia Contemporary Theatre. Tickets at £8 (and £5 for concessions) are available from The Junction Box Office 01223 511511.
