Over the years they have honed their mix of influences (song, odd metre, freeform jazz, broken beat, hip-hop, folk) with older and more modern jazz/electronica/rock. Their concerts include original compositions by each of the band members along with arrangements of the crystalline simple beauty of tunes by Massive Attack (Teardrop), Radiohead (Everything in its Right Place), the famously sampled Galt MacDermot (composer of Hair), as well as the too rarely played Dance Cadaverous (Wayne Shorter) amongst others.
"...accompanied by the metronomic but awesomely complex drummer Richard Spaven and the ingenious electric and acoustic bassist Tom Mason... Mitchell improvises in Herbie Hancockish sweeps but with more input from free-improv and contemporary classical music" John Fordham The Guardian
"a classically influenced avant-gardist with a lyrical, elegiac feel" Independent on Sunday
