Event details: RACHAEL SAGE (USA)
Independent Music Award Winner Rachael Sage writes what The Village Voice calls "lovely and literate folk-pop-rock". An innovative, improvisational keyboardist, she performs over 150 dates a year throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. A Grand Prize-Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Sage has earned a loyal following for her infectious melodies and poetic lyrics, and has shared stages with such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Judy Collins and Ani DiFranco.

"Genuine talent...Sage has a knack for writing melodies that will break your heart without makingyou feel manipulated in the process... Where there's poignancy there's also subtlety, unforced passion and knowing observation" - RollingStone

"...rich vocals, sparkling piano and yearning poetry" - Time Out New York

"Pop music isn't crafted as expertly as this anymore and Sage is the stitch between the great rock and pop traditions of the past and what those traditions have wrought - albeit almost invisibly - in the hypermodern world of the present." - Billboard

A singer/songwriter from Cambridge whose music has been inspired by Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Gillian Welch and Billie Holiday. She started out singing in various collaborations before picking up the guitar. This new path has led to gigs all over the UK as well as dates in Australia and New Zealand, including Cambridge Folk Festival, The Mean Fiddler, Strawberry Fair, Small World Festival and Ely Folk Festival, having won the Ely folk festival competition in 2007.
