The New York Standards Quartet delights audiences with its irresistible variations on standard jazz repertoire, including songs from such greats as Jerome Kern, Jimmy Van Huesen and Cole Porter.
Renowned for their near telepathic relationship with each other, the four Manhattan based players have developed their own unique style of pushing the boundaries of jazz.
For this performance, as part of Oxford Jazz Festival, the Quartet is joined by guest bassist Michael Janisch; a prominent newcomer on the international jazz scene and described by the Guardian as "one of the UK’s most exciting new improvisers".
This show promises to be a toe-tapping evening of the best melodic jazz sounds, played live on the Playhouse stage.
