Lunchtime Concerts

Date: 13 Mar 2009 - 13:10
End Date: 13 Mar 2009 - 13:55
Event details: Mar 6: Colin Steele (trumpet) Robert Pettigrew (piano)
Steele's compositions are inspired by Scottish and Irish folk music, but are firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, but what really sets Steele's music apart from other instrumental jazz is its popular appeal that stretches far
beyond the usual jazz audience.

Mar 13: Nick Collins (piano and electronics)
Works for piano and electronics including a solo piano performance of the rarely heard Sonatina by Conlon Nancarrow.

Mar 20: The Chuckerbutty Ocarina Quartet
Blissfully unaware of the limitations of an instrument with a range of just over an octave, the Chuckerbutties take their small clay instruments through a dazzling array
of improbable pieces, played with wit, musicality and occasional bursts of breathtaking speed.

Mar 27: Anglia Ruskin Student Ensembles
A varied programme of ensemble music performed by current Anglia Ruskin music students.

This regular series of weekly lunchtime concerts, which draws some of the country's finest performers to the univeristy, has become one of the highlights of Cambridge's musical calendar. The series is generously supported by the University Arts Council and we are therefore able to offer free admission to all concerts.
