Event details: GUY TORTORA
Guy Tortora is a roots, americana and blues vocalist, songwriter and guitar player from Pasadena, California, but now living in London. He is musical artist who may confound expectations; combining in his work elements of jazz, folk, blues & country music, both in his original compositions and in the songs he chooses to cover.

His live set includes original songs and standards, a great mix of the old and new, ranging from blues to bluegrass. Like other American contemporaries, Guy refuses to be cooped up in any box, blue or otherwise.

THE ROOTS UNION
The Roots Union are an acoustic roots outfit that have been traveling across the country dazzling audiences with their authenticity and originality. The bands unforgettable live show is unique and varied from laid back songs of love and life in candle-lit bars to explosive, high-energy acoustic rave -ups. This new band have already played at Sidmouth and Broadstairs folk weeks and larger festivals like Glastonbury and Beautiful Days. The line up is Tobias Ben Jacob: Vocals, guitar, Phillip Henry: Dobro, harmonica, backing vocals and Hannah Martin: Violin, backing vocals.

SYLVIA POWELL
Sylvia Powell is a singer-songwriter with a that voice invites comparisons with Sade, Morcheeba and Nina Simone, but listen closely to her songs and you'll hear the influence of Paul Simon, Nick Drake and Carole King too.

Her first album Revue attracted lavish critical praise from the likes of Music Week, who called it "a classy collection of tracks which takes in a myriad of folk, funk and R&B influences", and Q Magazine, who described it as "a fresh, sparky debut".

Sylvia has made a sumptuous new album, The Script. The songs are confident and mature, fresh yet timeless. They borrow from different genres including folk, jazz and soul, but maintain a recognizable stylistic and melodic continuity. Sylvia's voice is versatile and expressive, at times vulnerable, melancholy and defiant, but always soulful.
