Event details: English Touring Opera return to Cambridge Arts Theatre with a duo of operas to delight, thrill and entertain as part of the company's 30th Anniversary celebrations.

Tuesday 28, Thursday 30 April and Saturday 2 May
The Magic Flute by Mozart

Mozart's final masterpiece is the story of a terrifying and joyful journey in pursuit of love, wisdom and happiness. From the stratospheric arias of the Queen of the Night, through the jolly folk tunes of Papageno the Birdcatcher to the profound music of Sarastro, leader of the enlightened ones, it is a full expression of Mozart's musical and dramatic genius. ETO's new English- language production by physical theatre specialist Liam Steel, conducted by Paul McGrath, will be a memorable night for all ages.

Wednesday 29 April and Friday 1 May
Katya Kabanova by Janáček

Janacek's mature opera Katya Kabanova is the intimate and intense story of a sensitive married woman who falls in love with an attractive young man. This near perfect blend of lyric music and drama is based on the classic Russian play, The Storm; like the play it is dominated by the river Volga, a brooding, fatal presence. Inspired by the composer's own deep love for a married woman, Katya is a woman with whom every listener falls in love, and who transcends the small town prejudices that overwhelm the other characters.

Both productions will be sung in English
