'The Endellion is arguably the finest quartet in Britain' - The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians
HAYDN - String Quartet Op. 33 No. 4
MARTINU - String Quartet No. 7
BEETHOVEN - String Quartet Op. 131
Sponsored by Mills & Reeve
Haydn’s Op. 33 quartet precedes Martinu’s seventh and last quartet. Full of vitality and neo-classical rhythmic verve, it carries the listener along on its waves of energy. Beethoven’s Op. 131 is simply one of the most miraculous pieces ever composed: as original as it is profound it shows the composer at his height – and he was condemned to deafness well before he wrote it.
