ENDELLION STRING QUARTET
'Resident Quartet', University of Cambridge
Wednesday, 9 March 2011 (7.30 pm)
West Road Concert Hall, 11 West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DP
'The Endellion is arguably the finest quartet in Britain' - The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians
HAYDN - String Quartet Op. 33 No. 5
SMETANA - String Quartet No. 1 ('From My Life')
BEETHOVEN - String Quartet Op. 127
Haydn’s delightful quartet from his famous Op. 33 set is matched with Smetana’s colourful and autobiographical piece ‘From My Life’ which is tender and touching and vivacious in turn. A great Beethoven late quartet completes this wonderful programme.
