Event details:

A day of music to raise funds for 209radio.

Cath Coombs & the Awesome Soul Collective are a high-energy live act, with an exciting edge, guaranteed to get a crowd moving.

Inspired by the music of Aretha Franklin, the Awesome Soul Collective was formed in 2004 to celebrate and recreate the original classic soul sound. Led by the stunning vocals of Cath Coombs, the Soul Collective serve up a passionate set of soul and funk with an authenticity that's straight from the heart.

Cath says: "I started out on the folk scene as a singer and instrumentalist, playing fiddle and violin, working with the experimental folk band Whiskey Before Breakfast. Since then I have also sung with Horace X, a world fusion reggae band. More recently I have ventured into Soul, a new genre for me where I feel very at home."

The band feature high calibre musicians Pete Newman (Sax), Fabian Bonner (Bass), Tom Bainbridge (Guitar) and Ian Pickering (Drums) all known for their performances with the Godfather, Horace X and Fully Funktional.

The Awesome Soul Collective will top an all day bill of music being organised by Paul Christoforou to raise funds for 209radio, the Community Radio for Cambridge. The afternoon acoustic sessions will feature local musicians Alice Wroe, Ian Collins, Lui Di Martino, Sam Watkins, Chris Free, Bryony Lemon and Allotment. The evening, starting at 7pm features local bands Summerhouse, Free Again, The Filthtones, and the bill's headlining act, Cath Coombs and the Awesome Soul Collective.
