Friday 24 Oct: Showcase featuring Laurie Randolph, Dave Jenkins and YveDevora.
Laurie Randolph, a student with Uraguayan guitar virtuoso Abel Carlevaro, has toured Asia and Europe extensively, both as a soloist and in various duo combinations, playing from a wide-ranging repertoire which reveals her excellent technique.
Dave Jenkins' traditional background mixes happily with his modern, self-penned compositions reflecting life and love; sometimes heart-searching, sometimes amusing, his lyrics always make you think.
Enjoy the funky folk rock and instant magic of Yve and Devora (lead vocals, acoustic guitars), John Sandall (fiddle and bodhran), Justin Peters (percussion) and Palmi (bass guitar), which emanates from their love of haunting harmonies and soulful melodies.
Friday 31 Oct: Open Stage: Special guests Spencer Cleary. Long-established performers Philippa Spencer and Brian Cleary go back to their roots to explore the tradition's beautiful and sometimes neglected songs, presenting them in a fresh and relevant way. Their pared-down arrangements not only retain the integrity of their songs' melody and narrative, but also allow them to speak directly to the audience.
A Cambridge Folk Club gig.
