Around the World with Cywo

Date: 20 Jul 2009 - 19:00
Music Community:
Artists:
  • Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Wind Orchestra
Event details:

The concert will be an exhilarating trip around the world with some of the most exciting pieces by contemporary British composers. It starts in England with Percy Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy. Percy Grainger, an Australian by birth, made meticulous notations of English folk songs 100 years ago and based this piece on them.

We will also hear several compositions from Adam Gorb, who will take us on Safari and then safely through the Bermuda Triangle. John McCabe will provide drama as we go through the beautiful Canyons in America and we will also listen to Martin Ellerby's Paris Sketches.

It will be a truly memorable evening and a wonderful way to introduce children to music specifically written for Wind Orchestras. They'll be bouncing in their seats.

Tickets are free for families. To book your place please email cm@cambridgeshire.gov.uk with Around the World in the subject line.
