Mendelssohn String Quartet No 3 in A major Op.13

The Ardeo String Quartet are the latest in the Festival's long tradition of introducing young French string quartets to England, and their performance will surely be as memorable as those before them. These four young musicians met in string quartet class at the Paris Conservatoire and their quartet is named after the Latin word for passion. Prizewinners in the last Melbourne International Competition, they play two wonderful classics of the repertoire around a beautiful work by the Romantic French composer, Guillaume Lekeu, who died at the age of only tweny-three after composing about fifty pieces.
