Lab-coat wearing lo-fi popsters, supplying small town melancholia, to anyone with five minutes to spare, brought together by a shared love of car boots sales, robots, Daniel Johnston and the mid-range audio frequencies. An eclectic mix of lo-fi pop, downbeat and experimental electronica in the vein of Grandaddy, Leonard Cohen and Add N to (X), if you will. Cosmic, melancholy pop with cheap electronics and civilised guitar. Originally from the countryside, now residing in uptown Norwich, alto45 release records on their own Happy Capitalist Recordings along with other releases on Sickroom GC, Robots and Electronic Brains, NROne, Howlback/Mummy Where's The Milkman and MQ Projects.
TIGER MCS
Fragile, melancholic and yet playful, dreamy lo-fi pop from Norwich, in the vein of M. Ward and The Mountain Goats. Tiger MCs began playing live in 2002 as a side-project and antithesis to noise-drenched, epic mid-fi band Postalowa. Gradually developing a sound typified by concise, energetic guitar playing and rambling half-sentences for lyrics, Tiger MCs released several tracks on Norwich-based label Metal Queen Projects, culminating in the 'Piston-Pawed' EP. Last year saw the release of debut album, 'We Go Out', on Cherryade Records, home to The Bobby McGees, Steveless, etc.
THE PUNCTURE REPAIR KIT
If Gorky's Zygotic Mynci or the Delgados had formed in Cambridge then they might have sounded very much like The PRK - grandiose orchestral pop on a budget.
