Multiple Venues
Three weeks of events in Cambridge celebrating African Arts.

Events confirmed so far include:

4th May - Photo, Art & Craft Exhibition (MichaelHouse)

8th May - Mosse Fan-Fan & Papa Noel (St Paul's Centre)

9th May- Congolese dance workshops (Venue TBC) followed by club with various African music

10th Drumming workshops with Fatima Nanguia (Congo Brazaville)

15th May - "Friends of Africa" with Dance workshops from various parts of the world, including Polish, Chinese, and Indian dance. This will be followed by DJ music and a selection of light bytes from around the world.

16th May - Children's day - Dance and Art workshops, story telling & food

17th May - African food cooking workshops (Venue TBC)

22nd May - Dance workshops followed by club and selection of light bytes from around Africa

23rd May - Conference to celebrate Africa, its controversies and wonders...

25th - Get together for a drink and light bytes followed by a performance from a musician from Bourkina Fasso (West Africa)

Spring Sing - Song to celebrate the season's change

Sing simple songs from different cultural traditions, rich in harmony and rhythm.
Experienced singers and only-in-the-bath singers of all ages are welcome. Everything will be taught by ear, so just bring your vocal cords and enjoy the sounds we make in this resonant space.

The emphasis will be on ease, connection, enjoyment and fun and you are guaranteed to leave feeling relaxed with your head and heart full of harmony

Rowena Whitehead is a Cambridge-based singer and community choir leader who has been running voice workshops since 1991. She is known for her engaging and relaxed approach, and is Musical Director of Talking in Tune and a founder member of the Natural Voice Practitioners' Network (www.naturalvoice.net)

Please feel free to bring finger food to share for supper half way through the evening.
